Perełka #5 - Please Call Me, Baby

Gdy miał 24 lata nagrał swoją pierwszą płytę (aż tak się spodobała Timowi Buckleyowi, że pożyczył sobie z niej jeden numer). Gdy miał 25 lat nagrał swoją drugą płytę. I tak dalej aż do dziś mógłbym bez sensu odliczać, gdyby nie to, że właśnie rok 1974 jest punktem wyjścia do niniejszej perełki. Dobry to rocznik.

Tom Waits na "The Heart of Saturday Night" zaśpiewał jedną z moich ukochanych pieśni. Mało znaną powszechnie do czasu powstania filmu "Zakazany owoc" ("Keeping the Faith" 2000) z Edwardem Nortonem. A idzie to tak:



Tego samego, tysiącdziewięćsetsiedemdziesiątegoczwartego roku Tom Waits dał koncert w Denver (8/10/1974). I na tym koncercie zaśpiewał "Please Call Me, Baby". I jest to jedyne znane mi i dostępne wykonanie "na żywo" tego utworu. Znaczy rarytas. Prosz...

Antony w Warszawie

Pora na Warszawę.
Najpierw miał być koncert w Kongresowej. Najpierw, czyli 26 czerwca 2007. Bilety drogie, bo po 210 złociszy. Trudno, odżałowałem. Dość szybko nawet, bo trafił mi się pierwszy rząd. Niestety Antony zaniemógł. Coś z gardłem, zresztą można sprawdzić samemu:


Potem pojawiały się kolejne terminy: listopad 2007, styczeń 2008, bla bla bla. Aż w końcu:

Nowa lokalizacja - Teatr Wielki. Bilety - od 160 do 450 peelenów. Tak, 450! Mam stary bilet, więc zastanawiam się jakie miejsce zaoferują mi szanowni organizatorzy. Cennikowo wychodziłby chyba parking przed teatrem, ewentualnie hol. Skąd się biorą takie ceny? W tym roku mieliśmy w Warszawie najdroższy koncert Dylana na świecie, teraz pora na najdroższy koncert Antośka. Dla porównania: Berlin - 35-45 euro, Barcelona 48-68 euro...
Sztuka kosztuje. Antony zagra z zespołem, czyli dostaniemy Antony and the Johnsons. A piszę o tym, bo to wcale nie oczywiste. Ostatnio na przykład skład był taki: Antony i orkiestra symfoniczna (Londyn, Mediolan, Portland). Na setlistach znalazł się m.in. kower słynnej Beyoncé Knowles "Crazy in Love". W Oregonie brzmiało to tak:



Aha, tak w ogóle, to płyta ukazuje się 19 stycznia. Jej imię - "The Crying Light" z wielkim tancerzem Kazuo Ohno na łokładce.

1. Portishead – Third
Łatwo się rozczarować jak się na coś długo czeka. Trójka po raz kolejny okazała się świetną cyfrą.

To nawet nie jest płyta z kategorii "niedoceniona". To jest totalnie "najbardziej niezauważona płyta roku". Może dlatego, że ludzie leniwe są i ja sam też przypadkiem do niej wróciłem. Po pierwszym przesłuchaniu poszła w kąt, ale potem...

Zdecydowanie najczęściej słuchana przeze mnie w tym roku płyta. I jest na pudle wcale nie dlatego, że "Teraz Polska".

To jest najbardziej niedoceniona płyta roku. Zjechana wręcz. Mi wystarczył "Godspeed" i już wiedziałem, że zanosi się na dłuższą obecność w odtwarzaczu.

Tym razem ikona country - Dolly Parton we wczesnym, bardzo wczesnym utworze. "Don't Drop Out" pochodzi ze strony B singla "Control Yourself" z 1966 roku. Tak naprawdę, to nie jest klasikal kantry. Dolly dopiero jakiś czas później dosiadła konia.

Wszystkie we wszechświecie recki tej płyty zaczynają się tak:
Córka Loudona Wainwrighta III i Kate McGarrigle, siostra Rufusa Wainwrighta wydała swoją drugą płytę. Bla bla bla.
To ja też mogę. Tylko jakie to ma znaczenie, skoro trudno ją porównać do kogokolwiek z wyżej wymienionych? Że muzykę ma we krwi? No fajnie, ale wątpie, by miała przez to fory.

Ta płyta to kawał solidnego folk-popu. Martha ma charakterystyczny głos z manierą, która, zdaję sobie z tego sprawę, może drażnić. Ale jest to kawał porządnego gardła o dużych możliwościach. Słychać to było szczególnie na EPce "I Will Internalize". Teraz doszły do tego intrygujące kompozycje, jak "Tower Song" czy "Jimi". Na warsztat pani W. wzięła nawet Barretowskie "See Emily Play".



Nie było wyjścia - trza było iść na koncert. Kapitalny poenerdowski teatr w pobliżu Alexanderplatz: stare wytarte siedzenia, zapach zbutwiałego drewna i dżinu z tonikiem, "inni" ludzie na widowni. Po odbębnieniu trzech mało wciągających gigów, przyszła pora na klu wieczoru.

Jako że czyta te moje wypociny tylko garstka bliskich znajomych, to podzielę się za moment ze Szpaństwem jego treścią.

Tylko słowo wprowadzenia: Zachciałem kupić płytę cede, taką tradycyjną, na nośniku fizycznym. Znalazłem jeden sklep, w którym była dostępna. Wszedłem, włożyłem do koszyka, udałem się do kasy, zapłaciłem. Wszystko wirtualnie. Teraz czekam na przesyłkę. Wiem, że już do mnie zmierza, bo:
